Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
A mate works for a global hotel chain, the government contacted the chain last week to inform them there will be a 90% chance of a lockdown starting January.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
As we move into the 2nd half of the season, there are already 17 games to be re-arranged:

4 Games (12 pts) involving:
Burnley (18) (FA)

3 Games (9 pts) involving:
Everton (15) (FA)
Tottenham Hotspur (6) (FA) (CC)
Watford (17) (FA)

2 Games (6 pts) involving:
Brighton & Hove Albion (11) (FA)
Leicester City (9) (FA) (ECL)
Aston Villa (12) (FA)
Brentford (14) (FA)
Manchester United (7) (FA) (CL)
Wolverhampton Wanderers (8) (FA)
Leeds United (16) (FA)

1 Game (3 pts) involving:
Newcastle United (19) (FA)
Liverpool (2) (FA) (CL)
Southampton (13) (FA)
Crystal Palace (10) (FA)
Arsenal (4) (FA) (CC)
Norwich City (20) (FA)
West Ham United (5) (FA) (EL)

0 Games (0 pts) involving:
Chelsea (3) (FA) (CC) (CL)
Manchester City (1) (FA) (CL)

and the weather hasn't taken it's toll yet. Or mandatory international breaks. Or the African Cup of Nations.

There will become a point where games can't be rearranged because there's no future "slots" remaining in which they can be played, so behind closed doors may have to happen sooner rather than later; even so, if clubs can't even put a team out (because of Covid), even that becomes academic.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
Surely it will only go back behind a closed door if there are further restrictions in the country, assume that is the key here? Fucking hope not anyway as it's truly awful.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
Newcastle game off due to covid and other injuries? Can’t we get a few games called off?

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
Yeah it seems most clubs are preparing for it. Not sure lower league clubs could take another long hit but most PL clubs have seemed disappointed not to have put the season on pause over christmas.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
Need to knock all this isolation nonsense on the head given this variant is weak as piss.
Every game should be on and teams have to be told that they have to get through these postponed fixtures by the end of January.
Lots of bollocks going on especially as said with Newcastle getting games off because Wilson & St Maximin are injured.
Nonsense

Jaan.

My daughter manages 4 corporate boxes every match day over Stamford Bridge, she got the email yesterday telling her to inform her staff they wont be needed.

Could change of course but not looking to promising ATM.

Does seem ominous, 1bill. Especially seeing the amount of clubs asking for games to be called off.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
Posted this on the covid thread but it can go on here as well. Tottenham and Chelsea have cancelled their casual hospitality staff from Jan 1 so looks like BCD again for a short time at least.

Still moaning now that we smashed the oh-so-fresh Watford, Ernie?

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
Newcastle have managed to get their game on Thursday postponed by using covid as an excuse, because they have an injury crisis.

Gets them to the transfer window and the chance to get Saint Maximin fit.

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
The season is very close to descended into a farce now, as said you will have fresh teams coming up against teams who have played a lot, and league table standings will basically mean very little. It's fucked and it's fucking depressing.

doesn't this hand an advantage to the teams who have already been allowed to postpone games when they clearly could have fulfilled this new requirement

Re: PL to Close it's doors, again?
FA Cup replays in rounds three and four have however been scrapped and talks are ongoing on whether to reduce EFL Cup semi-final ties to one-leg matches
